About Me
I am Syeda Jahirin Aktari, a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in Economics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I am on the job market for the 2026–2027 academic year.
My research interests include microeconomics, economics of education, industrial organization, and causal inference, with a focus on the effects of higher-education policy on political participation and gender-attitude outcomes, as well as the influence of privacy measures on pricing strategy in spectrum-sharing markets. I use causal-inference methods and the novel World Values Survey (WVS) dataset in my empirical work.
My experience as an instructor and teaching assistant prepares me to teach core and elective economics courses, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, health economics, urban economics, environmental economics, and the history of economic thought, in both in-person and online teaching modalities. Additionally, I have experience assisting with several management courses.
